GAHA was organized and chartered in 1990 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a non-profit museum. Tax exempt status was awarded by the US Internal Revenue Service in June 1993.

        The charter authorizes a membership and anticipates the members and direct donations will provide the basic financial resources to carry-out the three principal objectives:

Project First Flight

A program to promote and encourage young people and adults who now have the time and resources to realize a youthful dream - Learn to Fly!

The Pennsylvania Elder Aviation Statesman Award

This program recognizes a Pennsylvania citizen who has contributed significantly to the promotion of general aviation in the Commonwealth.

The Museum

A repository of aviation literature and artifacts.

        The activities mentioned above are supported by donation which are considered "charitable contributions". Donations may be made to the General Fund or directly to the fund supporting each activity.
